About the author
Borbála Magdolna Pál is an artist and writer born in Pécs, Hungary (2001) and working in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Their work centres around shaping spaces such as horizons, borders, and labyrinths as sites of isolation, juxtaposition and convergence. Thematically they focus on notions of nationalism, myth and collective memory practices– specifically looking at Central-Eastern European countries within the European Union. Their work aims to be both self-contained and a composition of multiple frames; leaning equally on a studio and a live practice so that the spaces are first worked on as images and later become performative. The central thesis in their artistic practice is: as more and more we inhabit landscapes with no visible end, voices have to find their echoes.
ABOUT THINKING BODIES
Thinking Bodies was conceptualised as an effort to build an exploratory body of knowledge(s), that draws upon the festival’s theme and weaves together perspectives, writing styles and formats. Drawing from the theme of the FIBER Festival 2024 edition, Outer/Body, we invited aspiring and emerging writers from a multiplicity of backgrounds to share their contributions, ranging from essays to interviews to poetries, resulting in a rich archive of knowledge.
