Can low frequency sound create alleviating sensations for some, where others might experience discomfort? We often deal with frequencies around us without even realising it. Sound frequencies are something we can not only hear, but also experience in a physical, multisensory way. 

BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS (B.A.S.) is an immersive sound artwork by Brazilian artist @stefanieegedy, made up of a series of site-specific installations and concerts with bespoke compositions. Stemming from Egedy’s investigation of sonic communication and the therapeutic effects of sub-bass, bass, infrasound, and subwoofers, B.A.S. offers new, meditative ways of experiencing reality, expanding the possibilities of interaction between (human and architectural) bodies and sound waves.

To enhance the festival theme of Outer/Body, we invite you to experience, for the first time in the Netherlands, the stimulating effects of B.A.S. at an unconventional and undiscovered location: @schietbaan. Located on a terrain in transition, the Marineterrein, Schietbaan is a former shooting range transformed into an accessible cultural space, whose unique architecture allows low-frequency sound waves to be felt and heard on the skin and in the body.
