Hard hitting, rhythmical and genre-traversing, Rama is a DJ and multidisciplinary artist who bridges sonic worlds. Her sets are adventurous journeys through various sorts of future-focused club music, mutated UK bass, dubstep, rap, Brazilian funk, and percussion-influenced music with Arabic roots — all with a certain industrial edge, technically sharpened to move the body. She is recognised for her ability to draw from a diverse range of sounds without being constrained by genres, with a method of mixing more akin to live mashups than regular blends.
About the artist
Now based in Berlin, Rama grew up between Egypt and France. Here she co-founded the Cairo based music platform irsh, which she curates alongside ZULI. The platform supports artists and music from the Levant; the geographic area on the right of the Mediterranean Sea. As a DJ, Rama swiftly made a name for herself in Cairo's electronic and dance scene by performing at underground parties such as VENT and MOSHTRQ. She is an active radio contributor and curator at Noods Radio and recently performed at CTM Festival and Unsound.
