Antecâmara (2023) follows Luis Lecea Romera’s interest in examining the underlying historical and socio-political complexities of eucalyptus’ presence on both sides of 'A Raia'—'the Stripe,' the term referring to the border between Portugal and Galicia. Conceived after a scouting around the margins of the Gerês Natural Park, Antecâmara deploys a sound composition based on field recordings from scorched earth after forest fires caused by eucalyptus trees, assessing not what the reserve protects but what it protects itself from.

By inducing vibrations into chainsaw components, the piece acts as an idiophone. The installation alludes to the tools of action used by the Diseucalyptising Brigades as cross-border expressions of environmental resistance and a lingering legacy of resistance against fascism in the Iberian peninsula.
