'Time Coils' is a sonic odyssey delving into the liminal strata of emotion at the threshold between human consciousness and artificial intelligence. The eclectic collection of audio materials conveys strong, emotional resonance by the juxtaposition of synthetic-styled rap and live instrumental recordings – against LOREM’s signature digital stutters. ‘Time Coils’ is born from an endless process of resampling, recomposition, and learning. LOREM weaves a complex tapestry where each singular track from the album shares subtle connections with their counterparts, in addition to LOREM’s prior projects.
About the artist
LOREM is a music-driven multidisciplinary identity created by Italian musician, visual artist, and independent researcher Francesco D’Abbraccio. LOREM comprises an individual/multiple identity artist working across sound and media by exploring states of consciousness and emotional datasets through visceral narrative AV experiences. Working with neural networks and artificial intelligence systems, LOREM produces sounds, visuals and texts in their creative practice. LOREM’s work has been displayed in various institutional and festival contexts, some including Ars Electronica, Biennale di Venezia, Opéra de Lille, London Design Biennale, and Berlin Transmediale.
