Concert II: With PYUR and Hulubalang feat. Brandon Tay

BIMHUIS Concert: Memory Vessels

THUR. 30 May | With PYUR (Live), Hulubalang feat. Brandon Tay (Live AV)

Under the title ‘Memory Vessels’ we present our second concert evening on Thursday May 30 at the beautiful BIMHUIS. Join us for two extraordinary live performances, including an NL premiere, which will relate to the body as a carrier of memories, intense emotions, and visceral physical experiences.

PYUR (Sophie Schnell) will perform her most recent album, “Lucid Anarchy”; a personal and emotional sonic journal which grew during a long period of immersion in vast mountain landscapes and a remote sea village. A time of personal and emotional upheaval, in which the chaotic inner experience and the dizzying, beautiful endlessness of her surroundings converged. The result is a pulsating electronic release that is reduced in form, and rich in emotional depth and colour.

Aditya Surya Taruna (aka Kasimyn), one half of Gabber Modus Operandi and Björk collaborator, performs his latest solo project @hulubalang for the first time in the Netherlands. Born out of a dive into the Indonesian war archives, the album and performance BUNYI BUNYI TUMBAL is a personal act of catharsis, stemming from a long lineage of anger. It draws our attention to those at the periphery of historical records. The archives include a trove of photographs documenting the era of Dutch rule, captured through the lens of the colonisers themselves. From this material, the live AV show was developed with visual artist Brandon Tay.
